Overview

Febrile neutropenia is a significant concern for paediatric oncology patients as well as other immunocompromised children. All nurses working in oncology should have a complete and thorough understanding of this condition.

This module provides a brief overview of febrile neutropenia in paediatrics. It is not intended to provide an in-depth study of the topic, but rather to provide an introduction to nurses who are new to oncology, or a refresher to those with more experience.

  • Describe febrile neutropenia
  • Know the risk factors for paediatric febrile neutropenia
  • Describe the signs and symptoms of paediatric febrile neutropenia
