Medications: what are the risks?

Medication errors are the most commonly reported clinical incident in many healthcare settings.

This module is part of a series on medication safety. It provides a review of the basic mathematics required for anyone performing drug calculations.

  • Not everyone will need to do this module.
  • However, for those who wish to review how to calculate fractions and decimals, how to do division and multiplication, and how to write numbers correctly, it will prove to be a valuable resource.

This module is consistent with the Australian National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, Standard Four: Medication Safety.
