Overview

This module contains information that is relevant to the practice of any nurse or midwife who may administer medications to pregnant women and is particularly relevant to those who are endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines to this patient population.

It discusses considerations for the prescribing of medicines to pregnant patients, including patient and medication assessment and the effects of medicines during pregnancy, and provides an overview of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) categorisation system for prescribing medications for use during pregnancy.
